The Department of Electrical and Energy at Iğdır University was established to respond to the rapidly evolving needs of the energy sector and to train qualified technical personnel. With an innovative approach to education, the department has been implemented as an important step to contribute to regional development in the fields of energy production and management, while preparing students for the industry.

Our department was established within the Iğdır Vocational School in the 2002-2003 academic year under the METEB framework, offering the Electrical (Evening Education) program. In the 2013-2014 academic year, it separated from Iğdır Vocational School and was affiliated with the Iğdır University Vocational School of Technical Sciences, where it continues to provide education.

Since its establishment, the department has aimed to train individuals specialized in areas such as electrical and energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and energy efficiency, in line with the demands of the modern era. In this process, through an applied training approach and fieldwork, it has provided students not only with theoretical knowledge but also practical experience.

The department has adopted the mission of contributing to the evaluation of renewable energy resources, particularly in the region, and has carried out studies in this direction. Its academic staff, with their expertise in current energy technologies, guides students while also developing strong collaborations with the industry.

Today, the Department of Electrical and Energy at Iğdır University continues to train qualified workforce in the energy field, adding value to the energy sector both at the regional and national levels.
