General Information
Our department offers two programs: the Electrical Program and the Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program. Our department, which provides education at the associate degree level, aims to train intermediate-level workers needed in the energy sector. It is structured to teach the fundamental principles of electrical and energy technologies, develop practical skills, and prepare graduates to work in the industry.
The courses offered in our department combine theoretical and practical knowledge. Our curriculum includes the following topics:
- Basic Electrical and Electronics Knowledge: Circuit theory, electronic components, and basic electrical calculations.
- Energy Systems: Renewable energy sources (solar, wind, hydroelectric), energy production, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Power Electronics: Electrical machines, transformers, motors, and drive systems.
- Energy Efficiency and Management: Energy conservation methods and energy optimization techniques.
- Vocational Practice and Internship: Field-based training and gaining real-world work experience.
Our graduates can work as technical staff in the electrical and energy sectors. Their areas of employment include:
- Electrical installation project and maintenance work.
- Renewable energy power plants (solar, wind, etc.).
- Electrical distribution and transmission companies.
- Energy efficiency consulting firms.
- Industrial automation and control systems.
- Public institutions (TEDAŞ, TEİAŞ, EÜAŞ, etc.).
- Establishment and maintenance of electrical and energy systems in the private sector.
Our graduates can transition to four-year engineering programs through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
Our department, which is suitable for individuals interested in technical subjects, capable of analytical thinking, and enjoying fieldwork, provides an ideal starting point for students who want to build careers in energy sector professions based on practical knowledge and skills. As renewable energy technologies rapidly develop, the demand for graduates from these programs is also increasing. The Electrical and Energy Department, located in the Technical Sciences Vocational School at Iğdır University Şehit Bülent Yurtseven Campus, is part of the YÖK Associate Degree program and awaits you with its equipped faculty members and infrastructure.
